Aviation Industry News
American Airlines expects 18 million lounge visits this year, up from ten million in 2016. That’s an 80 percent increase in a decade, putting some numbers behind the increasingly crowded lounge experience.

easyJet (U2) will offer inflight internet for the first time, with Starlink installations starting in the first half of 2027. The airline expects to equip its Airbus A320s, A320neos and A321neos by early 2028, giving passengers access to browsing, streaming and online gaming. Flight updates and food ordering could follow. Pricing has not been announced, and the retiring A319 fleet is not included in the rollout.
Frontier Airlines (F9) collected $67.82 in fare revenue per passenger in the third quarter, up 71 percent from a year earlier. Add fees and other revenue, and the total reached $138.22, an increase of 30 percent. Passenger numbers also grew, rising approximately 18 percent to 9.8 million. But record revenue of $1.355 billion did not prevent a $104 million net loss, compared with $77 million a year earlier, as fuel expenses reached $425 million. Excluding special items, Frontier earned an adjusted net profit of $40 million.
Atlantic Airways (RC) ordered two Airbus A320neos, taking another step toward an all-neo fleet. The Faroe Islands’ national carrier currently flies two A320ceos and two A320neos. Moving to one version should simplify maintenance and day-to-day operations. Airbus says the neo uses at least 20 percent less fuel and produces correspondingly lower carbon emissions than previous-generation single-aisle aircraft. Delivery dates and financial terms were not announced.

Police Blotter
An American Airlines flight attendant allegedly used her employee travel benefits to visit a 75-year-old Florida woman as part of a fake sweepstakes scam. Investigators say Destiny Blake, 24, flew standby to Daytona Beach, Fla. (DAB), visited the woman’s Palm Coast home and received cash and electronic payments before making purchases through the victim’s credit accounts. The alleged losses totaled approximately $25,310. Blake was arrested at Miami on October 23 and faces charges including organized fraud, identity theft and grand theft. She was released on $30,000 bond.
Air Cargo
Boeing expects the global freighter fleet to reach 4,010 aircraft by 2045, up 67 percent from 2,395 in 2025, as air cargo traffic doubles. Its latest forecast calls for 2,930 new and converted freighters, with approximately 55 percent adding capacity and the rest replacing older aircraft. Passenger-to-freighter conversions will supply two-thirds of deliveries. E-commerce, changing supply chains and demand for advanced manufacturing and artificial intelligence hardware are driving growth. Trade involving Asia is expected to account for approximately 60 percent of the market.
