New and Proposed Routes
Avelo Airlines (XP) will launch four routes from McKinney, Texas (DTX), in December 2026. Atlanta (ATL) and Denver (DEN) will each operate 4x weekly, while Nashville, Tenn. (BNA), and New Orleans (MSY) will each operate 2x weekly.
Philippine Airlines (PR) will add two nonstop routes from Manila (MNL) to India in December 2026, both using Airbus A321neos. Delhi (DEL) will begin December 14 with 3x weekly flights, followed by Mumbai (BOM) on December 15 with 4x weekly flights. The Delhi service marks the airline’s return to the city after ending its previous operation via Bangkok in June 2013.
Delta Air Lines (DL) will launch Boston (BOS) to Venice with 4x weekly Airbus A330-300 flights from May 2 through October 29, 2027. Detroit, Mich. (DTW), to Athens will operate 3x weekly with Airbus A330-200s from June 8 through October 28. The previously announced Austin, Texas (AUS), to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) service will operate daily for summer 2027 beginning March 27, using Airbus A330-900neos.
Dropped and Suspended Routes
WestJet (WS) has removed three European routes from sale for summer 2027: Halifax (YHZ) to Copenhagen (CPH) and Madrid (MAD), and Toronto Pearson to Glasgow (GLA).
TUI adds 25 routes and easyJet announces 18 from the U.K. Plus Transavia’s new Azores service, Flair’s Puerto Plata flights, Aeromexico’s Caribbean expansion, more Faroe Islands flights to London, and cuts at Air Canada, Air India and Alaska Airlines.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy plans to seek another $30 billion from Congress for aviation infrastructure, including approximately $10 billion each for replacing aging air traffic control towers, upgrading telecommunications and other technology, and improving airport facilities. The proposed funding would supplement the $12.5 billion approved in June 2025 and comes after a September 21 telecommunications failure disrupted thousands of flights along the East Coast. Funding would also expand an FAA system that uses predictive analytics to improve traffic management. A recent government report warned that additional money is needed to complete the modernization program’s first phase, while FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford said outdated copper telecommunications lines should be fully replaced by September 2027.

CRASH: Authorities have raised the death toll from the September 25 TRACEP Congo Aviation crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo to 17. There were no survivors. The Let L-410UVP was flying from Kikwit to Kinshasa when it crashed at Kenge and caught fire. Two senior military justice officials and an infant were among those killed. Authorities have opened an investigation and suspended TRACEP’s operating certificate, grounding its fleet while investigators work to establish the cause. The aircraft, 9S-GUC, was built in 1983 and was approximately 43 years old. Let developed and built the L-410 in Kunovice, then in Czechoslovakia and now in the Czech Republic. The twin turboprop first flew on April 16, 1969, and was designed for short regional routes, with the ability to use short, unpaved runways.
Turkish Airlines (TK) finalized an order for 100 Boeing 737 MAX 8s on September 23, with options for 50 more MAX aircraft and the ability to switch to the larger MAX 10. It’s the airline’s biggest Boeing narrowbody order, following last year’s agreement for up to 75 Boeing 787s. The aircraft will support domestic and international expansion from Istanbul. No price was announced. Boeing’s old published list prices would put the firm order at about $12.16 billion, or $18.24 billion if Turkish takes all 50 options as MAX 8s, before discounts or other negotiated terms.
Volotea (V7) plans to cut its fleet from 44 aircraft to between 30 and 35, mostly Airbus A320s. That would mean losing nine to 14 aircraft, or roughly 20 to 32 percent of the fleet. The restructuring also calls for fresh capital, debt negotiations and about 50 job cuts at its Barcelona offices. Volotea says higher fuel costs have added approximately €150 million to its bill since March, following a €47.4 million operating profit in 2025. Talks with creditors, including Spanish state holding company SEPI, are expected to wrap up in December. CEO Carlos Muñoz says flights and ticket sales are continuing normally. There is no timetable yet for the fleet cuts, and the report does not identify which routes or bases could be affected.

Airbus plans to fly the A350F for the first time on September 29 at 10:20 a.m. local time from Toulouse (TLS), weather permitting. The first prototype, MSN700, registered F-WXLD, has completed high-speed rejected-takeoff tests. Next comes a certification campaign of about 400 flight hours, with a second aircraft, MSN701, joining later to test onboard equipment. The freighter pairs the A350-900’s forward fuselage with the A350-1000’s rear fuselage and wings. Its cargo door measures 4.3 meters wide and 3.15 meters high. Airbus has more than 115 orders for the Boeing 777F and 777-8F competitor and is targeting first deliveries in the second half of 2027.
