Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.

Aviation Safety & Security

A live improvised explosive device was discovered in a restroom beyond security at Houston Intercontinental (IAH) on Sept. 11, 2026. A custodian found the device near Gate D2 around 4:30 p.m., but police initially treated it as a firecracker and transported it away from the terminal before bomb technicians confirmed it contained an explosive mixture. Aviation security experts criticized officers’ handling of the device and a delay of more than six hours before canine teams received clear instructions on where to search. Subsequent sweeps found no additional devices. Investigators identified approximately 300 people who entered and exited the restroom during the possible placement window, and Houston police said the investigation remains ongoing.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has ended routine passport stamping during initial entry inspections, saying the change will shorten processing times and reduce operating costs. An Oct. 1, 2026, bulletin says officers may still issue stamps during secondary inspections or, when appropriate, while processing immigrant visas or responding to a traveler’s request.

A passenger scheduled to fly Delta Air Lines (DL) to Seattle was arrested Oct. 6 after allegedly entering the restricted airfield at Santa Ana, Calif. (SNA), stealing a tug and crashing it into another vehicle. The incident began around 5:30 p.m. near Gate 12, with the collision occurring near Gate 7. Officials said the passenger then attempted to take an American Airlines lavatory truck before airport police intervened. The passenger was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and the Gate 7 area closed for approximately 10 minutes.

Aviation Industry News

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved JetBlue Airways’ (B6) purchase of 22 New York LaGuardia slots from defunct Spirit Airlines, clearing one of the remaining regulatory hurdles from Spirit’s liquidation. Spirit stopped passenger operations May 2 and later received bankruptcy court approval to auction the slots, with JetBlue emerging as the successful bidder. The FAA said the transfer serves the public interest because JetBlue will still control less than 5 percent of LGA’s slots and could add competitive pressure in the New York market. JetBlue cannot lease or trade the 22 slots to another carrier until after April 2028, and the FAA is waiving normal use-or-lose requirements through April 2027 to give JetBlue time to launch or expand service. The agency emphasized that the transfer does not increase the total number of operations permitted at LaGuardia.

United Airlines plans to install Starlink Wi-Fi on 20 mainline aircraft per week, aiming to equip more than 1,000 aircraft by May 2027. Installations are underway at 17 United maintenance stations worldwide.

American Airlines plans to hire nearly 2,000 flight attendants in 2027 and has opened applications for trainee classes beginning in the first half of the year. The airline, which currently employs more than 30,000 flight attendants across 10 U.S. bases, expects its leading hiring locations to be Charlotte (CLT), Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami (MIA), and Chicago O’Hare. American has also refreshed its interview process to give applicants a clearer understanding of the role and training requirements as it focuses on improving premium customer service.

British Airways (BA) has unveiled plans for 106 Club Suite business class seats spanning the entire upper deck of its refurbished Airbus A380s, creating the world’s largest business class cabin. The configuration will be installed across the airline’s 12 A380s, with refreshed suites featuring sliding privacy doors, updated fabrics and finishes, wood-effect accents, and deep red details inspired by its First Class cabin. For comparison, Emirates (EK) offers up to 77 business class seats on its A380 upper deck, which also accommodates First Class. BA’s redesigned main deck will house 12 First suites and 84 premium economy seats, alongside economy.
